Sitting on a white sand beach, hidden in the tropical jungle of Sumba – Indonesia’s island jewel – lies Nihi Sumba, a haven of wellness and adventure with over 567 acres of land to call home. The luscious greenery of Sumba Island helps you to reconnect through dozens of beautiful hiking trails littered with waterfalls, reaching all four corners of the island – and not to mention a chance to see the famous ‘dancing’ mangrove trees which can only be found on Sumba.

Along with impressive hiking possibilities, you will have the opportunity to engage with local culture through classes such as Ikat weaving and natural remedies workshops. The Rooms

Nihi’s 28 spacious villas overlook the sparkling Indian Ocean, each uniquely designed with its own private pool, creating a private haven to unwind. The Experience

Kick off the day with a yoga lesson in the hilltop pavilion with breath-taking ocean views. Embark on a guided hike through the palm jungle to the historic Blue Waterfall where you can take in the surrounding beauty with a picnic on the shore of the blue lagoon. After heading back to Nihi for a full body massage in an open air spa pavilion, head to the beach for a mesmerising sunset horseback ride.

Restaurants & Dining

Nihi Sumba's ethos of being at one with nature is evident in all their offerings and the same can be said for their dining, through their garden to table approach. Chef Bernard Prim heads up Nihi's beach-side restaurant Ombak, using ingredients mostly grown in the hotel's organic garden and delicious local line caught fish. Nio Beach Club is also available for lunch on the idyllic deserted beach.

Spa & Wellness

Looking out on to the picturesque beach and Indian Ocean, Nihi Sumba’s open-air Spa is hidden in a tree sheltered creek with views to relax your mind as much as your body. Remotely set on a south-westerly Sumbanese hillside, the resort is intentionally hidden away from the outside world so you can enjoy the peace of the island.
